GATE 2025: GATE, short for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering, is a highly esteemed national-level examination. It evaluates candidates' comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in Engineering, Technology, Science, Architecture, and Humanities. GATE is jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee) on behalf of the National Coordination Board (NCB)-GATE, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.

GATE 2025 Update: IIT Roorkee is set to conduct GATE 2025. Aspirants can expect the application notification to drop around August 2024. The exam comprises three sections: General Aptitude (GA), Engineering Mathematics (EM), and a subject of your choosing. It's a computer-based test (CBT) lasting three hours, with 65 questions totaling 100 marks.

Aspirants need to tackle all 65 questions within this time frame. The questions are based on what aspirants have studied during their graduation and come in various formats like multiple-choice, multiple-select, and numerical answer questions. Additionally, there's a new section on Data Science and Artificial Intelligence introduced since GATE 2024.

GATE 2025 Eligibility Criteria 

  • The updated eligibility criteria for GATE 2025 will be released soon, along with the information brochure. As per the eligibility criteria for GATE 2024:

  • Candidates currently in the 3rd year or higher of any undergraduate degree program are eligible.

  • Candidates who have completed any government-approved degree program in Engineering/Technology/Science/Architecture/Humanities are also eligible.

  • However, candidates with B.Sc./B.A./B.Com. degrees (3-year program) seeking admission to master's programs in IITs and IISc may consider applying for IIT JAM instead.

GATE 2025 Application Form

Step 1 - GATE Registration

  • Start the GATE 2025 registration process through the GATE online application processing system (GOAPS) using the provided registration link.

  • Provide details such as first name, middle name, surname, valid email ID, country of residence, and mobile number, and choose a password for future login.

  • Verify registration through a system-generated one-time password (OTP) sent to the registered email ID and mobile number.

  • Upon verification, receive a unique enrollment ID.

Step 2 - Access GATE Login Portal and Fill Application Form

  • Log in to the GATE portal to access the online application form.

  • Enter personal details including name, parents’ names, date of birth, nativity, academic qualifications, and communication addresses.

  • Select the GATE paper and three exam cities, following specific zone criteria.

  • Provide photo ID details for verification.

Step 3 - Upload Scanned Images

GATE Admit Card 2025 

GATE 2025 admit card details are yet to be announced. Candidates are advised to stay updated by regularly checking the official website. Once released, the admit card can be downloaded from the GATE 2025 official website.

Candidates need to ensure that the passport-size photo uploaded during the application process matches their appearance on the exam day. They should also carry two identical passport-size photos along with their admit card.

To download the admit card, candidates can follow these steps:

  • Log in using the Enrollment ID and Password.
