लोगों ने सामूहिक रूप से उमा खुराना के साथ मारपीट की तथा उनके साथ दुर्व्यव्हार किया। बाद में जब इस विषय पर पुलिस द्वारा हस्तेक्षप किया गया, तो पाया गया कि अध्यापिका पर हुआ स्टिंग आपरेशन फर्ज़ी था। चैनल ने स्टिंग आपरेशन करने वाले प्रकाश सिंह पर यह आरोप लगाकर पल्ला झाड़ लिया कि रिपोर्टर ने हमें अंधेरे में रखा। यदि चैनल इसे प्रसारित करने से पहले इसकी सच्चाई पर ध्यान देता तो उमा खुराना तथा शहर को परेशानियों का सामना नहीं करना पड़ता। मीडिया द्वारा उमा खुराना से माफी माँगकर उनका दुख कम नहीं किया जा सकता है और ना ही उनका खोया हुआ सम्मान वापिस दिलाया जा सकता है।

Answer: मैं अपने चाचा की शादी के लिए उत्तरकाशी के प्रेमनगर नामक स्थान में गई थी। 17 जून 2013 का दिन था, जब वह स्थान बाढ़ की तबाही में बदल गया। गर्मी का मौसम था। हमने सोचा भी नहीं था कि इस मौसम में बारिश होगी। परन्तु हमारे पहुँचने के बाद ही से यहाँ लगातार अट्ठारह घंटे वर्षा होने लगी। परिणामस्वरूप नदी में बाढ़ आ गई। प्रेमनगर नदी के किनारे पर स्थित नगर है।

हमने तथा अन्य लोगों ने वहाँ के स्कूलों तथा अन्य संबंधियों के घर शरण लेना आरंभ कर दिया। मैंने पानी का भयानक रूप इससे पहले कभी नहीं देखा था। यह स्थिति प्रलय से कम नहीं थी। हम दूर बने मकानों की छत पर चढ़कर इस भयानक दृश्य को देखते ही रह गए। लगातार वर्षा ने हमारे शहर को पूरे देश से काट दिया। एक महीने तके हम यहाँ फंसे रह गए। इन दिनों में यहाँ के हालात बहुत ही खराब हो चुके थे।
खाने की वस्तुओं तथा अन्य सामानों के मूल्य बढ़ गए। पानी शहर में आ गया था। चारों तरफ कीचड़ हो गया था। नदी ने शहर के बाहरी हिस्सों को नष्ट कर डाला था। दुकानें और होटल बह चुके थे। लोग आर्थिक हानी से परेशान बैठे रो रहे थे। बाद में पता चला कि उत्तराखंड के केदारनाथ में इससे भी बुरे हाल थे। वहाँ पर तो भोजन के लिए लोग तरस रहे थे। हमें दिल्ली पहुँचने के लिए कई किलोमीटर पैदल यात्रा करनी पड़ी, तब जाकर हमें आगे की यात्रा के लिए बस मिल पायी।
