India is a huge country in South Asia, ranking 7th globally in size. It's divided into 28 states and 8 union territories, each with its main city. These are further divided into smaller areas called districts. New Delhi, located in the National Capital Territory of Delhi, is where the country's administrative, political, and cultural center.

In 1956, India changed its states to match the languages spoken there. Now, it has 28 states and 8 union territories, with over 400 cities. The Prime Minister wants to make 100 cities in India 'smart cities', with Indore already winning this title four times.
