1. लेखिका के व्यक्तित्व पर किन-किन व्यक्तियों का किस रूप में प्रभाव पड़ा?

उत्तर:- लेखिका के जीवन पर दो लोगों का विशेष प्रभाव पड़ा:
पिता का प्रभाव - लेखिका के जीवन पर पिताजी का ऐसा प्रभाव पड़ा कि वे हीन भावना से ग्रसित हो गई। इसी के परिमाण स्वरुप उनमें आत्मविश्वास की भी कमी हो गई थी।पिता के द्वारा ही उनमें देश प्रेम की भावना का भी निर्माण हुआ था।

शिक्षिका शीला अग्रवाल का प्रभाव- शीला अग्रवाल की जोशीली बातों ने एक ओर लेखिका के खोए आत्मविश्वास को पुन: लौटाया तो दूसरी ओर देशप्रेम की अंकुरित भावना को उचित माहौल प्रदान किया। जिसके फलस्वरूप लेखिका खुलकर स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन में भाग लेने लगी।

2. इस आत्मकथ्य में लेखिका के पिता ने रसोई को 'भटियारखाना' कहकर क्यों संबोधित किया है?

उत्तर:- लेखिका के पिता का मानना कि रसोई का काम में लग जाने के कारण लड़कियों की क्षमता और प्रतिभा नष्ट हो जाती है। वे पकाने - खाने तक ही सीमित रह जाती हैं और अपनी सही प्रतिभा का उपयोग नहीं कर पातीं। इसप्रकार प्रतिभा को भट्टी में झोंकने वाली जगह होने के कारण ही वे रसोई को 'भटियारखाना' कहकर संबोधित करते थे।

3. वह कौन-सी घटना थी जिसके बारे में सुनने पर लेखिका को न अपनी आँखों पर विश्वास हो पाया और न अपने कानों पर?

उत्तर:- एक बार कॉलेज से प्रिंसिपल का पत्र आया कि लेखिका के पिताजी आकर मिलें और बताएँ की लेखिका की गतिविधियों के खिलाफ क्यों न अनुशासनात्मक कार्यवाही की जाए। पत्र पढ़कर पिताजी गुस्से से भन्नाते हुए कॉलेज गए। इससे लेखिका बहुत भयभीत हो गई। परन्तु प्रिंसिपल से मिलने तथा असली अपराध के पता चलने पर लेखिका के पिता को अपनी बेटी से कोई शिकायत नहीं रही। पिताजी के व्यवहार में परिवर्तन देख लेखिका को न तो अपने आँखों पर भरोसा हुआ और न ही अपने कानों पर विश्वास हुआ।

4. लेखिका की अपने पिता से वैचारिक टकराहट को अपने शब्दों में लिखिए।

उत्तर:- लेखिका के अपने पिता के साथ अक्सर वैचारिक टकराहट हुआ करती थी -
(1) लेखिका के पिता यद्यपि स्त्रियों की शिक्षा के विरोधी नहीं थे परन्तु वे स्त्रियों का दायरा चार दीवारी के अंदर ही सीमित रखना चाहते थे। परन्तु लेखिका खुले विचारों की महिला थी।
(2) लेखिका के पिता लड़की की शादी जल्दी करने के पक्ष में थे। लेकिन लेखिका जीवन की आकाँक्षाओं को पूर्ण करना चाहती थी।
(3) लेखिका का स्वतंत्रता संग्राम में भाग लेकर भाषण देना उनके पिता को पसंद नहीं था।
(4) पिताजी का लेखिका की माँ के साथ अच्छा व्यवहार नहीं था। स्त्री के प्रति ऐसे व्यवहार को लेखिका अनुचित समझती थी।
(5) बचपन के दिनों में लेखिका के काले रंग रुप को लेकर उनके पिता का मन उनकी तरफ़ से उदासीन रहा करता था।

5. इस आत्मकथ्य के आधार पर स्वाधीनता आंदोलन के परिदृश्य का चित्रण करते हुए उसमें मन्नू जी की भूमिका को रेखांकित कीजिए।

उत्तर:- सन् 1946-47 ई. में समूचे देश में ‘भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन’ पूरे उफ़ान पर था। हर तरफ़ हड़तालें , प्रभात - फ़ेरियाँ, ज़ुलूस और नारेबाज़ी हो रही थी। घर में पिता और उनके साथियों के साथ होनेवाली गोष्ठियों और गतिविधियों ने लेखिका को भी जागरूक कर दिया था। प्राध्यापिका शीला अग्रवाल ने लेखिका को स्वतंत्रता - आंदोलन में सक्रिय रूप से जोड़ दिया। जब देश में नियम - कानून और मर्यादाएँ टूटने लगीं, तब पिता की नाराज़गी के बाद भी वे पूरे उत्साह के साथ आंदोलन में कूद पड़ीं। उनका उत्साह , संगठन-क्षमता और विरोध करने का तरीक़ा देखते ही बनता था। वे चौराहों पर बेझिझक भाषण, नारेबाज़ी और हड़तालें करने लगीं। इस प्रकार हम कह सकते हैं कि स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन में उनकी भी सक्रिय भूमिका थी।

6. लेखिका ने बचपन में अपने भाइयों के साथ गिल्ली डंडा तथा पतंग उड़ाने जैसे खेल भी खेले किंतु लड़की होने के कारण उनका दायरा घर की चारदीवारी तक सीमितथा। क्या आज भी लड़कियों के लिए स्थितियाँ ऐसी ही हैं या बदल गई हैं, अपने परिवेश के आधार पर लिखिए।

उत्तर:- अपने समय में लेखिका को खेलने तथा पढ़ने की आज़ादी तो थी लेकिन अपने पिता द्वारा निर्धारित गाँव की सीमा तक ही। परन्तु आज स्थिति बदल गई है। आज लड़कियाँ एक शहर से दूसरे शहर शिक्षा ग्रहण करने तथा खेलने जाती हैं। ऐसा केवल भारत तक ही सीमित नहीं है, बल्कि आज भारतीय महिलाएँ विदेशों तक, अंतरिक्ष तक जाकर दुनिया में अपने देश का नाम रौशन कर रही हैं। परन्तु इसके साथ दूसरा पहलू यह भी है की आज भी हमारे देश में कुछ लोग स्त्री स्वतंत्रता के पक्षधर नहीं हैं।

7. मनुष्य के जीवन में आस-पड़ोस का बहुत महत्व होता है। परंतु महानगरों में रहने वाले लोग प्राय: 'पड़ोस कल्चर' से वंचित रह जाते हैं। इस बारे में अपने विचार लिखिए।

उत्तर:- आज मनुष्य के सम्बन्धों का क्षेत्र सीमित होता जा रहा है, मनुष्य आत्मकेन्द्रित होता जा रहा है। उसे अपने सगे सम्बन्धियों तक के बारे में अधिक जानकारी नहीं होती है। यही कारण है कि आज के समाज में पड़ोस कल्चर लगभग लुप्त होता जा रहा है। लोगों के पास समय का अभाव होता जा रहा है। मनुष्य के पास इतना समय नहीं है कि वो अपने पड़ोसियों से मिलकर उनसे बात-चीत करें।
