  • There is negative marking for wrong answers.

Important Notes for Prelims

  • Both papers have negative marking (1/3rd mark deducted for wrong answers)

  • No penalty for unanswered questions

  • Decision-making questions in Paper II don't have negative marking

  • You need to score the minimum cut-off marks set by the commission to qualify for Mains

MPSC Main Exam Pattern 2025

The MPSC Main exam has recently been revised. It now consists of 9 papers instead of the earlier 6 papers, with total marks increased to 1750.

Language Papers (Qualifying Only)

  • Paper 1: Marathi - 300 marks, 3 hours (Qualifying with 25% marks)

  • Paper 2: English - 300 marks, 3 hours (Qualifying with 25% marks)

These language papers are only qualifying in nature. Their marks aren't counted in the final merit list.

  1. Paper 3: Essay - 250 marks, 3 hours

  2. Paper 4: General Studies-1 - 250 marks, 3 hours

  3. Paper 5: General Studies-2 - 250 marks, 3 hours
