CBSE Board Exams to be Conducted Twice A Year
The biannual board exams will be administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan provided an update on the implementation of the board twice-yearly idea, stating that beginning with the 2025–2026 academic year, students would have the choice to sit for the Class 10 and 12 board examinations twice a year.
The minister stated that one of the goals of the new National Education Policy (NEP), which was launched in 2020, was to lessen academic burden on pupils, which is why CBSE Board Exams to be conducted twice a year. NEP 2020 is not only about imparting theoretical knowledge but also about skill based learning. Pradhan highlighted the idea of implementing 10 school days without a bag every year and stressed on involving students in arts, culture and sports among others.
Pradhan was speaking after launching PM SHRI (Prime Minister's Schools for Rising India) Chhattisgarh. , under which 211 schools in the state will be renovated. The event was held at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium in Raipur. According to the New Curriculum (NCF) announced by the Ministry of Education last August, board exams are held at least twice a year to give students enough time and opportunities to perform well. Students who appear for the exams twice a year will also get a chance to retain maximum marks.
Underlining the Centre's NEP 2020 plan, Pradhan said for the academic session 2025-26, students will get a chance to appear in the 10th and 12th class board exams twice.
